[Sports Today reporter Kang Tae-gu] Goh Woo-seok, who is pushing for a big-league chance with the Detroit Tigers organization, had his worst outing of the season in his first Minor League appearance of the year.

Pitching for the Triple-A Toledo Mud Hens, Goh took the mound on March 30 (Korean time) at Coca-Cola Park in Allentown, Pennsylvania, in a Triple-A clash with the Lehigh Valley IronPigs (a Philadelphia Phillies affiliate). He came on as the Mud Hens’ fourth pitcher, lasted just one out (0.1 innings), walked three, allowed four runs (three earned) and was charged with the loss.

The game was Goh’s first appearance of the 2026 season. He had looked sharp representing South Korea at the 2026 World Baseball Classic, but he couldn’t carry that momentum into this outing.

The teams were tied 4-4 after nine innings and went to extras. Toledo pushed across three runs in the top of the 10th, and Goh was summoned to face the bottom of the inning.

Entering in the tiebreaker with no outs and a runner on second, Goh battled leadoff hitter Brian De La Cruz to a full count before issuing a walk.

With runners at first and second and no outs, Goh fought through another full-count at-bat to get Caleb Rickets to fly out to center and appeared to settle in, but he then issued a four-ball walk to Christian Cairo, loading the bases.

With one out and the bases loaded, Goh got a first-pitch strike on Paul Macintosh but followed with four straight balls, forcing in a run. Manager pulled him and turned the game over to Brennan Hannifi.

Hannifi induced Robert Moore into an infield groundout that produced another run while recording an out, then walked Sergio Alcantara and surrendered a walk-off double to Cade Fergus. Goh was charged with three earned runs and took the loss.

Toledo was unable to protect its 10th-inning lead and fell 8-7.
