Yang Yunseo discussed her upcoming entry in the Augusta National Women's Amateur (ANWA).
Yang will compete in the ANWA, which begins April 1 (local time) near Augusta, Georgia.
Rounds 1 and 2 are scheduled for April 1 and 2 at Champions Retreat Golf Club. The unofficial practice day on April 3 and the final, 3rd round on April 4 will be held at Augusta National Golf Club.
On the 15th of last month in New Zealand, Yang became the first Korean to win the Women's Amateur Asia-Pacific (WAAP).
Reflecting on that victory, she said, \"I still can't quite believe I won. I was excited, but there are many events ahead, so I'm staying focused on training.\"
About the ANWA, she added, \"This is my final year as an amateur, and I've been preparing for this tournament since last year. I'm looking forward to competing against the best players in the world.\"
She continued, \"Augusta National, where the Masters is played, is a dream stage. It's an honor to be there. My goal is to improve on the best Korean finish, a tie for fifth. If the opportunity presents itself, I'd like to go for the win.\"
People often describe Yang as \"quietly strong.\"
She explained, \"On the course, I try to stay calm. I work to remain steady even in tense moments. People tell me I'm quietly strong — my consistency and composure are my strengths.\"
Joining Yang from Korea are Oh Soo-min, who finished runner-up at the WAAP, along with Park Seo-jin and Kim Gyu-bin.
Past champions include Jennifer Kupcho (USA), Tsubasa Kajitani (Japan), Anna Davis (USA), Rose Zhang (USA), Lottie Woad (England), and Carla Bernat Esqueder (Spain).
