Will Lee Jung-hoo Bounce Back? Analyzing His 2026 MLB Performance with San Francisco Giants
Daniel Kim | 2026.04.02
San Francisco Giants outfielder Lee Jung-hoo, who had three hits the day before, was held hitless and couldn’t extend that momentum.
On April 2 (Korean time) at Petco Park in San Diego, California, Lee started as the No. 6 hitter and right fielder for the Giants in their 2026 game against the San Diego Padres. He went 0-for-3 with one walk and one strikeout.
His season batting average dropped from 0.222 to 0.190.
With Lee unable to get a hit, the Giants fell 1-7 to the Padres, snapping a three-game winning streak.
In the top of the second, with San Francisco trailing 0-1, Lee lined out in his first plate appearance. He led off the fifth inning with a walk, advancing to second on Harrison Bader’s grounder, but the next batters couldn’t bring him home.
In the seventh, with one out and a runner at second and the Giants down 0-3, Lee grounded out to shortstop, moving the runner to third. Bader followed with an RBI single for San Francisco’s first run.
Lee came to the plate again in the ninth with one out and a runner on first while the Giants trailed 1-7, but he struck out swinging and finished the game without a hit.
After that lone run in the seventh, San Francisco failed to add on and then surrendered four runs in the eighth, handing the momentum to San Diego.
