The Brave Detectives 5 has released a teaser video. Meanwhile, actor Lee Yi-kyung—who temporarily left the program on the 9th amid a personal scandal—has confirmed he will not be returning.
On the 17th, T'cast E Channel posted the teaser for The Brave Detectives 5 (directed by Lee Ji-sun) on its official YouTube channel. The clip frames MC Ahn Jung-hwan, Kwak Sun-young, Yoon Doo-joon and profiler Kwon Il-yong as the show's \"Yong-hyung\" heroes.
The roughly one-minute teaser opens with each of the four encountering shocking breaking news in their everyday lives. Ahn Jung-hwan, dining at a restaurant, sees the report on a screen and snaps, \"What on earth is this guy doing?\" Walking his dog Emong, Kwak Sun-young spots a passerby’s phone and rushes over, saying, \"Mind if I take a look?\"
In a car, listening to the news through earphones, Yoon Doo-joon urges his manager, \"We should get there quickly,\" while profiler Kwon Il-yong—dressed in a suit—checks his watch and looks visibly tense.

When the four finally assemble in the studio, they wait anxiously for the detective to appear. Ahn asks, \"Why haven't we heard anything yet?\" and Kwon replies, \"They won't admit it easily.\" Kwak asks, \"How did they catch them?\" and Yoon adds, \"That's what I'm most curious about.\" Their reactions build anticipation for the new season as they await the detective's account of the case.
Having seen news of the incident in their daily lives, the four arrive on set ready to transform into the Yong-hyung heroes and fully engage with the detectives' firsthand stories.
The Brave Detectives brings real-life detectives to the screen to recount the investigations they led, offering a vivid, crime-focused variety format. The series has retained steady viewer support and now reaches its fifth season. Returning producers and the strong rapport between Ahn Jung-hwan and profiler Kwon Il-yong remain central, while newcomers Kwak Sun-young and singer-actor Yoon Doo-joon promise fresh chemistry. This season will again probe real cases to illuminate the realities of crime, foregrounding on-the-ground perspectives from detectives and experts to present a fuller picture of each incident.
The Brave Detectives 5 premieres Friday the 27th at 9:50 p.m. and will stream on major platforms including Netflix and South Korean services TVING and WAVVE. Viewers can also find updates and clips on E Channel’s official YouTube and Instagram.
Meanwhile, the show's web series Hyungsu-da 2 drops new episodes every Friday at 7 p.m. on the YouTube channel \"Detectives' Chatter.\"
