Yongin announced on the 10th that it will be the first municipal government in Gyeonggi Province to deploy an AI-driven sports broadcast system.

The city will pilot the AI Sports Broadcast System starting in April at the Giheung Respia and Suji Sports Park soccer fields.

The project will be run under a partnership between the Yongin City Sports Council and KT Skylife. Officials say the technology will give residents a new way to experience local sports.

AI cameras will track players’ movements and the ball’s trajectory in real time, automating filming, editing and streaming.

By eliminating the need for camera crews, the system can deliver high-definition coverage of community sports matches that previously went untelevised.

Users will be able to watch live streams and replays through a dedicated app.

Parents can review their children’s practice footage without attending in person. Recreational players can edit their own game video and share it on social platforms, enabling a more data-driven grassroots sports experience.

The city says the rollout will accelerate the digital transformation of public sports services.

Based on results from the two-field pilot, Yongin plans to expand the program to more facilities and sports over time.

Mayor Lee Sang-il said the initiative — the first of its kind among Gyeonggi municipalities — “shows how advanced infrastructure can be integrated into residents’ daily lives.” He added, “We will create a forward-looking sports environment where anyone can record and enjoy their games like athletes.”
