Yongin City Museum in Gyeonggi Province will host a special exhibition, Kick Off Together: Our Football City, Yongin, from the 20th through Dec. 6 to celebrate the founding of community club Yongin FC.

The show traces Yongin’s football journey — from the sport’s early arrival in the region and the development of the Yongin Football Center to the rise of Yongin FC — and was created to share the city’s transformation into a football hub with local residents.

The exhibition is divided into three sections. Section 1 chronicles the growth of Korean football, featuring historical artifacts such as items from Kim Yong-sik, a key figure in the sport’s early days, and Joo Young-kwang, a member of Korea’s 1954 World Cup squad in Switzerland.

Section 2 is a hands-on zone designed to help visitors understand the rules, tactics and the K League. Interactive stations include ladder-step drills and juggling practice, plus activities like building your own Yongin FC tactical board and a themed photo zone — all meant to make the game more approachable and fun for fans of all ages.

Section 3 highlights Yongin’s local football history, including a little-known timeline from the Japanese colonial period. It also spotlights the Yongin Football Center, Yongin FC and the city’s supporters’ culture, driving home the exhibition’s message that the true protagonists of a community club are its citizens.

A museum official said, "We hope this exhibition brings more residents into the ranks of football fans and sparks a local football boom." They added that the museum plans to offer a variety of educational and hands-on programs tied to the exhibition.
