Gangwon FC has announced a partnership with the Gangwon Provincial Council of Social Welfare to launch an innovative season-ticket sharing program. This initiative aims to bring the excitement of professional soccer to underserved communities in the region.
The club revealed on Wednesday that they signed a memorandum of understanding with the welfare council at Gangwon FC's Chuncheon office. The agreement, focused on the '2026 Gangwon FC Season-Ticket Sharing Project,' saw Gangwon FC CEO Kim Byung-ji and Council Chairman Park Seung-yong in attendance, both committing to this collaborative effort.
This program is designed to provide access to pro soccer matches for elementary, middle, and high school students, as well as low-income families across the province. These groups often face barriers to participating in cultural activities. Through this initiative, Gangwon FC hopes to promote healthy leisure activities and bridge the cultural divide in their community.
"This partnership will create meaningful experiences for students and families who haven't had many chances to enjoy live sports," said Park Seung-yong, chairman of the welfare council. "We're committed to expanding cultural welfare through continued public-private cooperation."
Kim Byung-ji, Gangwon FC's CEO, shared his vision for the project: "We want pro soccer to be more than just a sport – it should be a cultural touchstone that brings our community together. This is just the beginning of our expanded efforts to give back to the vulnerable groups in our region."
The Gangwon Provincial Council of Social Welfare plays a crucial role in the area, coordinating 18 city and county welfare councils and connecting various social welfare facilities and organizations. Their mission focuses on increasing community engagement in social welfare and building a robust regional support network.
