Lee Jae-dong, coming off a victory at Rissangrok, will meet Kim Taek-yong in the winners' match.
On April 20 at FreakUp Studio in Gangnam, Seoul, ASL Season 21’s Round of 16 Group C opened with Kim Taek-yong taking on Kim Tae-young. Kim Tae-young grabbed two quick expansions early and created a wrinkle in the matchup, but Kim Taek-yong scouted the plays and secured his own expansion. The game boiled down to a straight-up unit engagement; Kim Taek-yong won the fight, closed out the match, and advanced to the winners' bracket.
In a long-awaited rematch — their first meeting in roughly 2,500 days — Lee Jae-dong faced Lee Young-ho. Lee blocked scouting, fed his opponent misleading information, and opted to expand. He attacked with a mutalisk-hydralisk composition while Lee Young-ho defended with Goliaths and a Science Vessel. Lee Jae-dong created a favorable engagement, dismantled the Goliath-heavy force, and, despite Lee Young-ho adding tanks, prevailed to set up the winners' match against Kim Taek-yong.
