Ulju County in Ulsan has become the first local government in the country to introduce an integrated radiation emergency education brand, Bangbanggotgot, as it steps up community-focused safety training.
On May 12, Ulju County announced it will consolidate previously separate radiation emergency education programs for different target groups into a single branded system, with full implementation beginning this year.
The brand name Bangbanggotgot conveys the idea of bringing radiation emergency education into everyday life. The county has unified programs for schools, neighborhoods and municipal employees under one umbrella and created a dedicated brand identity (BI), the first such initiative nationwide.
Ulju plans to expand tailored programs centered on residents' daily lives, moving beyond lecture-style sessions to help people practically adopt a culture of safety in their everyday routines.
The program will operate across four areas — community hubs, socially vulnerable groups, future generations and digital engagement — offering curricula matched to different ages and settings under themes such as "Our School and Our Neighborhood," "Our Neighbors," "Future Generations" and "In Our Hands."
The BI design also reflects local characteristics. Ulju plans to apply design elements that symbolize villages, nuclear power plants and evacuation routes to educational materials and promotional items to boost brand recognition and strengthen learning outcomes.
Officials also developed hands-on content for younger generations. Using eco-friendly paper 3D kits, children practice assembling an actual emergency kit so they can learn, in a natural way, what relief items are needed in a radiation emergency and how to use them. The kits can be assembled without scissors or glue to increase safety.
To mark the launch, Ulju will run a card-news challenge tied to the county health center’s WalkOn community from May 15 through 31. Residents and local workers who reach a 70,000-step goal in the WalkOn app and view the radiation preparedness card news will be entered in a drawing; officials will award e-gift vouchers to 400 winners.
An Ulju County official said, "Radiation emergency education is directly linked to residents' safety. Through the unified brand, we will make safety training accessible and a natural part of daily life."
