Yoon Hee-shin, the People Power Party candidate for Taean County mayor, visited a senior center on Parents' Day and announced a plan to strengthen services for older residents.

On May 8, Yoon visited the Cosmos senior center in Taean-eup, performed a deep bow to attendees and wished them health and longevity. He then spoke with seniors, hearing about everyday challenges and their perspectives on local welfare policies.

Yoon proposed an outreach-based welfare strategy to build an age-friendly city. He argued that administrative, medical and caregiving services should not make seniors wait, but should proactively reach them in their communities.

Noting Taean County’s rapidly aging population, he emphasized the need for prevention-focused welfare administration. He pledged to expand town- and township-level outreach dementia services and to regularize free early dementia screenings to improve early detection and ensure continuous care.

He also proposed measures for farming and fishing communities with limited access to medical care. Yoon said he would operate a mobile “house-call” medical bus for homebound seniors to reduce healthcare blind spots and provide on-site services for residents who have difficulty visiting hospitals.

His platform includes expanded, practical mobility supports. By increasing hospital-accompaniment services and grocery-shopping assistance, he aims to reduce daily burdens on mobility-impaired seniors and create a tailored support system that addresses everyday needs, not just transportation.

Yoon pledged a 24-hour emergency response and reassurance service to protect seniors living alone and other vulnerable groups. He said he would upgrade ICT-based remote care systems to enable faster emergency responses and strengthen an ongoing safety net.

“Today’s Taean was built by the sweat and dedication of our elders,” Yoon said. “Now the community must take responsibility for their health and quality of life.”

He added, “I will deliver field-centered welfare so that seniors can spend a healthy, comfortable old age in the Taean they have always called home.”
