Webtoon artist and broadcaster Kian84 (real name Kim Hee-min, 42) drew attention after donating 100,000,000 KRW (about $75,000) in total to 100 elderly people who collect scrap paper for recycling.
On April 22, his agency AOMG said Kian84 appeared on the 'CelebIn' YouTube series \"Donation Planner,\" where he discussed how the donation was made and why he chose to do it.
Seodaemun District Office selected the 100 recipients from among older adults who collect scrap paper and who either need assistance or fall outside the welfare safety net.
Kian84, who was raised by his grandmother, said seeing elderly people working hard motivated him to help.
The donation was carried out as part of his ongoing \"100 Challenge.\"
Kian84 launched the \"100 Challenge\" in 2024, initially providing 1,000,000 KRW (about $750) per child so children in orphanages could buy essential supplies.
In January of last year, he and webtoon artist Park Tae-joon donated 1,000,000 KRW (about $750) each to 60 children at an orphanage, totaling 60,000,000 KRW (about $45,000).
