The Ministry of Employment and Labor launched a special inspection after a manager at a bedding manufacturer in Incheon allegedly assaulted a migrant worker. The ministry said it will impose stern measures, including criminal prosecution, for violations of labor laws such as assault, harassment, or serious industrial accidents, and will pursue cancellation or restrictions on employers’ permits to hire foreign workers. It also said it will confirm the injured worker’s wishes, arrange shelter and other protective measures if requested, and facilitate procedures to change the worker’s workplace. Earlier, on the morning of the 24th, police received a report that a Korean manager identified only as A had assaulted a Bangladeshi worker identified only as B at a textile manufacturer in Gajwa-dong, Seo-gu, Incheon.
