[iNews24 reporter Jeong Jae-su] Hanam City in Gyeonggi Province announced on May 4 that it is operating a door-to-door application service to help residents with limited mobility—such as seniors and people with disabilities—apply for relief payments tied to high fuel costs.

The service runs from April 27 through July 3 and covers residents who, as of March 30, were registered at an address in the city and have mobility challenges, including the elderly and people with disabilities.

If an eligible resident requests assistance by phone or other means, staff from the administrative welfare center will visit to accept the application. After payment preparations are complete, staff will return to issue the relief in the form of local gift certificates (Hamoni card) or prepaid cards.

For residents the city has previously identified as vulnerable, staff will provide in-home application support without requiring a separate request.

The administrative welfare center’s welfare team will lead the operation, with officials and temporary workers or volunteers conducting visits in two-person teams.

Im Ae-gyeong, director of the city’s welfare policy division, said, “High fuel costs are placing a heavy burden on vulnerable residents. We will continue field-focused welfare services to ensure no resident is left behind.”
