Yeongam County in South Jeolla Province has teamed up with snack-chain Yamsaem Gimbap to introduce a lineup of Yeongam Hanwoo–forward menu items as it pushes to bring the region’s agricultural and livestock products to a national audience.
Under the partnership, Yeongam and Yamsaem developed four “Yeongam Hanwoo” dishes. They debuted two—Hanwoo Soboro Gimbap and Hanwoo Rolled Egg Gimbap—at the Wangin Cultural Festival.
The new offerings highlight Yeongam Hanwoo’s rich flavor and deliver a satisfying, hearty bite. Positioned as a fresh take on classic gimbap, the items are expected to attract plenty of curious eaters.
Yamsaem Gimbap operated a sales booth at the Wangin Cultural Festival from April 9–12. The new menu will be available at the chain’s locations nationwide starting in April.
A festivalgoer who sampled the gimbap on-site gushed, “It’s really delicious. Can you get Hanwoo gimbap at this price?” and voiced clear satisfaction.
The collaboration is part of a loconomics initiative to promote local specialty products. Yeongam County says working with businesses helps secure stable sales channels while raising brand awareness.
Last year, Yeongam recorded about 820 million KRW (approximately $615,000) in sales from Yeongam rice menu items developed with Yamsaem Gimbap, so industry watchers are eager to see whether the Hanwoo menu will achieve similar success.
Lee Seung-jun, director of Yeongam County’s Distribution Industry Division, said, “We expect the new menu will showcase the competitiveness of Yeongam Hanwoo and help us gauge consumer response. We will continue expanding sales channels for local specialty products through a variety of collaborations.”
