Gyeonggi Nonghyup, led by Um Beom-sik, teamed up with Pyeongtaek Livestock Nonghyup, chaired by Bang Hee-ryeok, to host a pork tasting and offer 15% off all pork products at Gwacheon Baro Market on the 17th.
The Pork Promotion Committee organized the campaign, with Gyeonggi Nonghyup handling the event. Aimed at easing grocery bills and opening up sales channels for Korean pork farmers, the event drew long lines before it officially began — the 250 kg (about 551 lb) of pork prepared sold out quickly.
“I hope this Korean pork promotion campaign helps increase incomes and expand sales opportunities for farmers who are struggling due to livestock diseases like African swine fever (ASF),” Um Beom-sik said.
Chairman Bang Hee-ryok added, “Only healthy pork that has passed slaughterhouse inspections reaches the market, so consumers can feel confident and enjoy more of our tasty, nutritious Korean pork.”
