Seoul Jangsu announced on the 3rd that it will sell exclusively at GS25 a playful new alcoholic beverage that blends makgeolli and cider, called 'Makgeolli Cider'(hereafter 'Maksa').

The 'Maksa' first launched in 2021November and sold about 870,000 bottles, earning strong consumer response. Encouraged by that demand, Seoul Jangsu has reintroduced it.

'Maksa' packages the popular DIY makgeolli-plus-cider recipe into a ready-to-drink form (RTD, Ready To Drink) that’s caught on with 20s and 30s consumers who love customizing flavors. No mixing is required — just open and enjoy — making it perfect for people who want quick, portable refreshment.

Seoul Jangsu developed this product through its own recipe research rather than simply blending the two drinks. The process includes four rounds of infusion and fermentation, a flavoring step to introduce a cider aroma, and carbonation to achieve a crowd-pleasing taste. It’s been formulated at a low alcohol level of 5% so even those sensitive to alcohol can comfortably enjoy it during spring outings, camping trips, and other outdoor activities.

To celebrate the launch, Seoul Jangsu and GS25 are running a value promotion. Through April30, customers who buy 'Maksa' together with an ice cup in stores will receive a discount. The offer taps into the recent convenience-store mixology trend of pouring alcohol over ice cups to create instant cocktails and makes the so-called 'Ice Maksa'(ice + makgeolli + cider)' experience easy and accessible.

A Seoul Jangsu representative said, We paired makgeolli’s smoothness with cider’s refreshing fizz at the ideal ratio so anyone can enjoy it. Since the product is being sold in limited quantities through the GS25 channel, we hope customers try 'Maksa' and discover a fun new way to enjoy the warm spring days.

The product will be available at nationwide GS25 stores starting the second week of April, and sales will end once supplies run out.
