[Sports Today reporter Shin Seo-young] The Samsung Lions defeated the Doosan Bears to extend their winning streak to two games.

On April 2 at Samsung Lions Park in Daegu, Samsung beat Doosan 5-2 in a 2026 Shinhan SOL KBO League home game.

The win pushed Samsung to 2-1-2 and capped the three-game midweek set with a winning series.

Doosan, meanwhile, dropped its second straight game and fell to 1-1-3.

Starter Lee Seung-hyun went five innings, allowing two hits, issuing three walks, striking out five and yielding one run; he left without a decision. Reliever Choi Ji-gwang tossed a scoreless inning, gave up one hit and picked up the victory.

At the plate, Kim Seong-yoon had multiple hits, Koo Ja-wook delivered the go-ahead RBI in the eighth, and Ryu Ji-hyeok added power with a two-run homer.

Doosan starter Choi Min-seok threw six strong innings, allowing two hits, five walks and four strikeouts while yielding one run, but his offense couldn’t provide support. Tamura took the loss after allowing four runs on four hits (including one homer) with one strikeout in one inning.

Samsung struck early. In the bottom of the first, leadoff man Kim Ji-chan drew a walk, and on Kim Seong-yoon’s plate appearance a throwing error by the first baseman left runners at first and second with no outs. Koo Ja-wook’s infield grounder moved the runners to first and third with one out, and during Diaz’s at-bat a failed pickoff attempt let the runner on third score, giving Samsung a 1-0 lead.

Doosan answered in the top of the second. Yang Eui-ji was hit by a pitch, Cameron followed with a single and Ahn Jae-seok drew a walk to load the bases with nobody out. Kang Seung-ho struck out, but Lee Yoo-chan battled Lee Seung-hyun in a 10-pitch at-bat and drew a bases-loaded walk to force home the run and knot the game at 1-1.

Both offenses then fell silent as the pitchers took control.

Samsung broke the tie in the eighth. Leadoff hitter Kim Seong-yoon singled off reliever Tamura and moved to second on a wild pitch. Koo Ja-wook’s single to right brought Kim home and gave Samsung a 2-1 lead.

With no outs and runners at first and third after Diaz’s single, Choi Hyung-woo added an insurance run with a sacrifice fly. One out later, Ryu Ji-hyeok crushed Tamura’s first pitch—a 146km/h fastball—into a two-run shot to right-center. Samsung plated four runs in the eighth and stretched the lead to 5-1.

Holding a four-run cushion, Samsung turned to Kim Jae-yoon to close the ninth. Kim retired Yang Eui-ji on an infield fly and Cameron on an outfield fly but surrendered a solo homer to Ahn Jae-seok. He then struck out pinch-hitter Oh Myung-jin to end the inning and preserved the win without further damage.
