(The CEN News / Reporter Kang Hyun-bin) Italian fashion label Subdued is staking its claim in Seoul’s trendiest neighborhood with a new pop-up in Seongsu-dong.
Subdued will open its first pop-up on Yeonmujang-gil in Seongsu-dong, Seongdong-gu, Seoul on April 4, officially launching its push into the Korean market. The pop-up is part of the brand’s broader global expansion strategy.
The roughly 270 m² space leans into oak wood, textured walls and generous natural light to evoke Subdued’s signature relaxed, minimalist vibe. The design also mirrors the visual identity the brand applies across its global stores.
Known for pared-back pieces that fold seamlessly into everyday wardrobes, Subdued will showcase signature items at the pop-up. Expect the Angel Wing Hoodie, low-rise denim, short shorts and graphic tops — a product mix clearly aimed at Gen Z shoppers.
Outside the store, a silver-wrapped mobile caravan expands guest interaction points. Serving as a gateway to the brand’s e-commerce, the caravan includes a photo booth and a shooting area so visitors can create content. It will remain in Seongsu for about two weeks before moving on.
A private pre-opening event on April 2 gave guests an early taste of the brand. The evening featured a live DJ set, catering and a digital-print customization station that reinforced Subdued’s identity.
Founded in Rome in 1995, Subdued now operates around 130 stores worldwide. Following investment from Nuovo Capital in 2024, the brand has been accelerating its push into the Asian market.
A Subdued spokesperson said, "This Seongsu pop-up marks an important milestone in our expansion into the Korean market. We aim to bring Italian sensibility in a natural, authentic way."
The pop-up runs in Seongsu-dong through the end of June and is open daily from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. The brand plans to open an official flagship store in Seongsu later to further strengthen its presence in the South Korean market.
