Lotte Department Store is celebrating Children's Day with an interactive board-game pop-up aimed at both children and adult shoppers.
From May 4 through May 26, Lotte Department Store will host the Korea Board Games pop-up on Basement Level 1 of Lotte World Mall in Jamsil. Korea Board Games is a domestic company behind international hits such as Halli Galli and Rummikub.
The pop-up will feature roughly 300 board games — including Modoo Marble Mega Deluxe, Rummikub, Klask and La Cucaracha — with discounts of up to 70%.
Limited-edition items commemorating Pokémon's 30th anniversary, such as Splendor Pokémon and Dobble Pokémon, will also be available.
The event includes hands-on sessions with professional cubers. On May 24, speedcubing competitor Choi Kyung-min is scheduled to demonstrate how he solves cube challenges and explain his technique.
Toy brand Hot Wheels will unveil new releases as well. To mark its 57th anniversary, the brand is launching four exclusive Car Culture: Modern Classic models and will hold a raffle awarding an F1: The Movie Car Collection to visiting customers.
As adults make up a growing share of toy and character spending, retailers are expanding experiential offerings aimed at "kidults." Industry observers see this event as part of that broader shift.
Lotte Department Store said it has prepared special promotions so families can connect and enjoy board games together from Children's Day through Parents' Day.
