On the 24th (Korea Standard Time), transfer specialist Florian Plettenberg reported that Vinícius and Real Madrid have reached a basic agreement on a new long-term contract.
With just one year left on his deal, attention turned to whether he'd sign an extension. Real initially appeared open to selling him — sources say he’d been involved in issues on and off the pitch, and Saudi clubs reportedly offered a hefty transfer fee. Recently, though, the situation has shifted and his chances of staying have improved.
Questions remain. Reports indicate the dressing-room atmosphere toward Vinícius has grown chilly. Spain’s Mundo Deportivo says teammates believe Vinícius has been informing coach Álvaro Arbeloa about internal squad matters.
Amid those tensions, Manchester City has increased its interest. British outlet TeamTalk reported on the 8th that “Man City is preparing to compete to sign Vinícius in the upcoming summer transfer window” and is “closely monitoring his situation.”
Although Real and Vinícius reportedly agree on the broad terms, detailed negotiations are ongoing. If they can’t align on specifics — such as salary or contract clauses — a move away from Madrid remains a real possibility.
Local reports add that Manchester United and Chelsea are also keeping tabs on Vinícius alongside City.
