Anyang played to a 0-0 draw with FC Seoul on the evening of the 5th at the Seoul World Cup Stadium in Round 12 of the Hana Bank K League 1 2026. The point leaves Anyang with 15 points, sitting seventh in the table.
The match was defined by two red cards. In the 34th minute, Seoul’s Yazan was shown a straight red for stepping on Kim Woon from behind. Despite the numerical advantage, Anyang failed to produce clear attacking opportunities. Later in the second half, substitute Kim Kang provoked Seoul supporters with a two-handed downward gesture and was dismissed for unsportsmanlike behavior. The game finished scoreless even after it became 10-vs-10.
After the match, Yoo said, "We had a lot of away fans come out, and it’s disappointing we couldn’t deliver a positive result. We prepared our defense well against Seoul, but we didn’t have the attacking edge to break them down. We haven’t scored in two matches, so we need to address that through training and better communication."
Anyang struggled to sustain control in possession and to craft sustained attacks, and the absences of Mateus and Thomas—one sidelined by a red card and the other by injury—were felt. Yoo added, "There were moments where player movements overlapped structurally, and that prevented us from creating real threats."
Kim Kang, who was sent off, is a 2007-born rookie who joined Anyang this year. Saturday’s match was only his second professional appearance.
On Kim’s behavior, Yoo said, "I couldn’t verify every detail of what happened, but it was clearly wrong. Players need to learn character and how to interact with fans as they develop. Trying to make an impact in a big game led to an excessive reaction. We’ll correct him and provide proper guidance and education." He added, "He’s young and this will be a big learning experience. If fans watch his development, he can become a good player."
Anyang has already recorded its fourth sending-off this season. Yoo emphasized, "Early in the year we’ve been trying tactically challenging plays, and that has led to dismissals. The situations with Mateus and Kim Kang are behavioral issues off the ball, so we need to address them thoroughly."
On the team’s first-half performance and standing, he assessed, "I’d give us about a 70 out of 100. We need to reduce the goals we concede while also developing clearer attacking patterns."
