[Sports Seoul | Reporter Park Jun-beom] SK Sugar Gliders claimed the H League women’s division’s first-ever undefeated season.

The Sugar Gliders beat Incheon Metropolitan City Hall 31-24 on April 18 at the Olympic Park Handball Stadium in Songpa-gu, Seoul in the regular-season finale of the “Shinhan SOL Bank 2025–2026” Handball H League women’s season.

By winning all 21 regular-season games, SK rewrote the record books for women’s handball. It’s the first undefeated title in H League history across both men’s and women’s competitions. Before the H League began, Doosan went 20–0 to win the 2018–2019 men’s season.

Last year the Sugar Gliders rode a 19-game winning streak before falling to Busan Facilities Corporation and coming up short of a milestone. This season, with deeper personnel and tighter cohesion, they dominated the league and finally secured a flawless run.

The team’s hallmark is balance. SK led the league with 624 goals (29.71 per game) while allowing the fewest goals at 518 (24.6 per game), earning a reputation as both the most potent offense and the steadiest defense.

Their quick-transition game showed up in a league-high 114 fast-break goals. With 355 assists—the most in the league—the Sugar Gliders emphasized movement and team offense over isolation play. They also committed the fewest turnovers (138), underscoring efficient game management.

Defensively, the team stifled opponents, ranking first with 79 steals and 49 blocks, effectively shutting down opposing attacks. SK has established itself not just as an offensive powerhouse but as a complete, well-rounded team.

SK Sugar Gliders head coach Kim Kyung-jin said, “We were worried at the start of the season after losing some key players, but our chemistry improved and we completed a three-peat in the regular season. The players built trust by staying focused and winning tough games, and that carried us to an undefeated title. We’ll aim to achieve our goal in the championship final.” beom2@sportsseoul.com
