[Sports Today reporter Lee Sang-pil] The Hanwha Eagles snapped the SSG Landers' winning streak.

Hanwha beat SSG 6-2 on the road at Incheon SSG Landers Field on April 7 in a 2026 Shinhan SOL KBO League matchup.

Hanwha improved to 5-4, giving them momentum to climb the standings. SSG, denied a fifth straight win, slipped to 7-2.

Hanwha starter Ryu Hyun-jin delivered a vintage outing — six innings, four hits, 10 strikeouts, two walks and two runs — to pick up his first win of the season. He also became the oldest player in KBO history to reach 1,500 strikeouts (39 years, 13 days) and did so in the fewest games (246).

SSG starter Takeda took the loss, lasting three innings while allowing four hits, recording two strikeouts, issuing four walks and surrendering four runs.

Hanwha struck first. In the top of the first, after one out, Peraza doubled and Moon Hyun-bin followed with an RBI single to put Hanwha up 1-0.

SSG answered in the bottom of the first. Leadoff man Park Sung-han drew a walk, and with one out and a runner on first, Choi Jeong launched a two-run homer over the left-field wall to give SSG the lead.

SSG's lead was short-lived. In the top of the third, Hanwha loaded the bases on walks to Oh Jae-won, Peraza and Moon Hyun-bin. Noh Si-hwan drew a bases-loaded walk to tie the game at 2-2. After outs by Kang Baek-ho and Chae Eun-seong, Ha Joo-seok delivered a two-RBI hit to put Hanwha back in front, 4-2.

Backed by that run support, Ryu racked up strikeouts and kept the SSG lineup off the board, preserving Hanwha's 4-2 lead through the middle innings.

With control of the game, Hanwha turned to its bullpen in the seventh to finish the job. The SSG offense was unable to mount a comeback after Ryu exited.

In the top of the ninth, Moon drew a walk and Noh was hit by a pitch to put runners on first and second with one out. Kang Baek-ho followed with an RBI hit and Chae Eun-seong added an RBI groundout to put the game out of reach. The contest ended in a 6-2 victory for Hanwha.
