By Kang Tae-gu, Sports Today Manchester City defensive midfielder Rodri has been fined £80,000 (about 160 million KRW / about $107,200) after publicly accusing a referee of bias.

The BBC reported on March 10 (KST) that Rodri criticized referee Robert Jones following Manchester City's Feb. 2 match at Tottenham, and the English Football Association (FA) has imposed an £80,000 fine (about 160 million KRW / about $107,200).

Rodri objected to a moment when Tottenham forward Dominic Solanke appeared to kick Manchester City defender Marc Guehi's foot during a scoring opportunity and no foul was given.

After the game, Rodri said, \"Because we've won so much, I know people don't want us to win. But referees must be neutral. We worked hard, yet the calls weren't fair. After a match like that, all I feel is hollow.\"

The FA opened an inquiry into Rodri's remarks and decided to issue a fine rather than hand down a suspension.

The FA said Rodri submitted two letters explaining his conduct and that officials determined a suspension was not warranted.

In his first letter, Rodri argued that some outlets had misrepresented his comments; in the second, he acknowledged that his remarks were inappropriate.
