Nam Ji-seong of the Dangjin City Office tennis team captured the doubles title at an ATP Challenger event, extending his strong start to the season.

Dangjin City announced on March 10 that Nam won the doubles crown at the ATP CH75 PMR Maha Open in Pune, Indonesia, held Feb. 23–March 1.

Teaming with Patrick Niklas Salminen (Finland), Nam defeated the pairing of Pru-cha Isaro (Thailand) and Niki Kalliyanda Punacha (India) in the final.

The victory marked Nam’s 40th professional doubles title and his second straight international tournament win, following his earlier Challenger triumph in Vietnam.

Officials said the result does more than add another international trophy: it raises Dangjin’s profile as a sports city ahead of the 78th Chungcheongnam-do Residents’ Sports Festival. The string of early-season international wins has lifted morale across the city’s representative teams and increased expectations for an overall victory at the festival.

“I’m very happy to have achieved good results at the first international tournaments of the year,” Nam said. “I thank the citizens of Dangjin for their constant support, and I will repay them with strong performances on bigger stages.”

Nam plans to donate about 3 million KRW (approximately $2,250) of his prize money from the tournament to Dangjin City’s elite youth sports program.

A Dangjin City official said, “Nam’s 40th career win is a great source of pride for Dangjin sports,” noting that the consecutive international victories have given a major boost to all athletes preparing for the Residents’ Sports Festival.

Meanwhile, Dangjin City is working to build a sports city that balances elite and grassroots athletics, leveraging the successes of its corporate teams in tennis and badminton.
