[SPOTV News=Reporter Park Dae-seong] Manchester United interim manager Michael Carrick is one of six finalists for the Premier League Manager of the Year award. United appear likely to make him their permanent manager starting next season.

The Premier League released its 2025–26 Manager of the Year shortlist on May 14 (KST). Carrick, who took interim charge after Ruben Amorim’s dismissal in January, was named alongside title challengers Mikel Arteta (Arsenal) and Pep Guardiola (Manchester City).

The BBC reports that United’s board intends to push for Carrick’s permanent appointment after the interim boss posted a 66.7% win rate. In 15 matches, Carrick steadied the squad and lifted United from outside the top 10 into third place.

Under Carrick, United secured an early return to the Champions League. Since Jan. 13, the club has collected 33 Premier League points—more than any other side over that period.

Joining Carrick, Arteta and Guardiola on the shortlist are Andoni Iraola (leaving Bournemouth), Brentford’s Keith Andrews and Sunderland manager Régis Le Bris.

The BBC added: “Arteta needs just two more wins to deliver Arsenal’s first Premier League title since 2004, but he could still miss out on Manager of the Year to Guardiola. Iraola pushed Bournemouth to the verge of the club’s first European qualification; Andrews could replicate a similar achievement with Brentford in his first full season as permanent manager; and Le Bris kept Sunderland in the upper reaches of the table for much of their first Premier League campaign after promotion.”

The eight finalists for Player of the Year include David Raya (Arsenal), Gabriel (Arsenal), Declan Rice (Arsenal), Antoine Semenyo (Manchester City) and Erling Haaland (Manchester City). United captain Bruno Fernandes, Brentford forward Igor Thiago and Nottingham Forest midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White also made the shortlist.
