LG defeated the KT Wiz 5-3 on March 16 at Suwon’s KT Wiz Park in a 2026 Shinhan SOL KBO League exhibition matchup.
The win snapped LG’s skid and was their second victory of the spring; their exhibition record now stands at 2–1–2 (2 wins, 1 tie, 2 losses). KT remains without a win in the exhibitions, now 0–2–3 (0 wins, 2 ties, 3 losses).
Starter Wells picked up the decision, working three innings while allowing one hit, issuing five walks and surrendering two runs.
At the plate, Chu Se-hyun was the standout, going 3-for-4 with a two-run homer, two RBIs and two runs scored. Lee Jae-won, Koo Bon-hyuk and Lee Joo-heon each collected multi-hit games.
KT starter Kwon Sung-joon lasted two innings, giving up three hits and five walks, striking out one and allowing two runs. Reliever Lim Jun-hyung was charged with the loss after one inning, yielding two hits and one run.
LG struck first. In the top of the second, leadoff man Koo Bon-hyuk drew a four-pitch walk. Chu Se-hyun followed with a run-producing single to left, and Lee Joo-heon walked to load the bases with nobody out. Lee Jae-won and Chun Sung-ho each delivered sacrifice flies to push across runs and put LG up 2-0.
KT responded in the bottom of the second. Jang Sung-woo and Heo Kyung-min worked walks, and after Lee Kang-min grounded out, Kim Sang-su drew a four-pitch walk to load the bases. A subsequent walk to Han Seung-taek forced in a run, and later, with two outs and the bases still loaded, Bae Jung-dae ripped an RBI single to left to knot the game at 2-2.
LG reclaimed the lead in the top of the third. With one out and nobody on, Oh Ji-hwan lined the fifth pitch from reliever Lim Jun-hyung—a 83.3 mph (134 km/h) slider—into right for a double. Koo Bon-hyuk followed with an RBI single to bring Oh home and give LG a one-run edge.
Building on that momentum, LG extended the lead with a long ball. In the top of the sixth, Koo Bon-hyuk opened the inning with a double to left off a 80.8 mph (130 km/h) forkball from reliever Lee Sang-dong. Chu Se-hyun then crushed a two-run homer to left, an estimated 361-foot (110 m) blast, pushing the lead to 5-2.
KT’s offense, quiet after the second, finally stirred in the eighth. With one out in the bottom half, An Chi-young walked and Bae Jung-dae followed with a single to put runners at the corners. Oh Yoon-seok’s sacrifice fly brought in the runner from third, trimming the lead. After Jang Jin-hyuk drew a walk to create a two-out, runners-in-scoring-position chance, Lee Jung-hoon flew out to left off reliever Jang Hyun-sik, and KT came up short of further damage.
LG was held scoreless in the top of the ninth, and the club turned to Jang Hyun-sik to close it out. Jang allowed a one-out single to Kwon Dong-jin but retired Moon Sang-chul and Kim Min-seok on flyouts to seal the 5-3 win without surrendering another run.
