KT edged LG 5-4 on the 29th at Suwon’s KT Wiz Park in the 2026 Shinhan SOL KBO League game.
The win extended KT’s streak to three games, moving the club to 19-8 and solidifying its hold on first place.
LG, which also lost in extra innings on the 28th, dropped its third straight game. Including the April 26 matchup against the Doosan Bears, LG has now lost three consecutive extra-inning games, falling to 16-10 and surrendering a share of second place to the SSG Landers.
KT starter So Hyung-jun went six innings, allowing eight hits and three walks while striking out four and giving up three runs (one earned). Reliever Joo Gwon threw 0.2 scoreless innings, surrendered two hits and earned the win.
Offensively, Jang Sung-woo delivered the dramatic finish with a two-run double in the bottom of the 10th.
LG starter Lee Jung-yong allowed one run on three hits and one walk while striking out two across five innings. Jang Hyun-sik took the loss after 1.1 innings, giving up one hit, issuing three walks, striking out two and allowing two runs.
In a tight pitchers’ duel early, KT broke the deadlock first. In the bottom of the fourth, leadoff hitter Choi Won-jun reached on a shortstop error, stole second and moved to third on a Kim Hyun-soo single. Kim was thrown out trying to steal the next base, but Jang drew a walk to keep the inning alive. Hilliard’s infield grounder then brought Choi home for a 1-0 lead.
LG answered in the top of the fifth. With two outs and nobody on, Hong Chang-gi walked and later advanced to second on a Cheon Seong-ho single. A misplay in right field allowed Hong to score, and with two outs and a runner at third, Austin delivered an RBI single to center to give LG a 2-1 lead.
LG kept momentum in the sixth. Song Chan-ui doubled, Oh Ji-hwan laid down a bunt and Park Hae-min followed with a sacrifice fly to push the advantage to 3-1.
KT fought back in the seventh. Jang walked and Kim Sang-soo followed with a single to load the bases with two outs. Pinch-hitter Lee Jung-hoon drew a bases-loaded walk and was replaced by pinch-runner Kwon Dong-jin.
KT used another pinch-hitter, sending Yoo Jun-gyu in for Lee Kang-min. Yoo ripped Woo Gang-hoon’s fifth pitch—a 149 km/h fastball—into right-center for a two-run double, knotting the game at 3-3.
The pitchers held through the remaining innings, forcing extras. LG grabbed the lead in the top of the 10th. After one out, Cheon singled to right and advanced to third on a wild pitch. Austin’s RBI single to center scored pinch-runner Choi Won-young, putting LG up 4-3.
LG threatened to add more as Mun Bo-kyung and Song Chan-ui followed with hits off reliever Joo Gwon, but Austin was tagged out at the plate and Shin Min-jae grounded out to end the inning without further damage.
KT answered with a tense bottom of the 10th. Leadoff batter Woo Jun-gyu drew a walk. Kang Min-seong popped out, but consecutive walks to Choi Won-jun and Kim Hyun-soo loaded the bases with one out. Jang Sung-woo then lined a two-run double to left off reliever Kim Young-woo, delivering a dramatic walk-off and giving KT the 5-4 victory.
