LG defeated NC 5-4 on April 8 at Changwon NC Park in a 2026 Shinhan SOL Bank KBO League game.
The victory moved LG to 6-4. NC, now on a three-game skid, also fell to 6-4.
LG starter Lachlan Wells worked four innings, allowing four hits, striking out four, issuing four walks and yielding two runs; he left without a decision.
Offensively, Oh Ji-hwan delivered a ground-rule homer to spark the rally, and Chun Seong-ho added two RBIs to bolster the attack.
NC starter Shin Min-hyeok pitched well, throwing five scoreless innings with five hits, four strikeouts and one walk, but took the loss.
NC struck first. In the bottom of the first, Kim Joo-won drew a walk then stole second and third to create a no-out, run-scoring opportunity, and Park Min-woo followed with an infield hit to give NC the early lead.
NC extended the advantage in the bottom of the fourth. Lee Woo-seong singled and Kim Hyung-joon walked to load the bases with two outs, and Seo Ho-chul ripped an RBI double to push the score to 2-0.
LG, quiet until the sixth, began its comeback after Shin departed. In the top of the sixth, with one out and a runner on first after Austin drew a walk off reliever Im Ji-min, Chun Seong-ho took Im’s 138km/h forkball and drove a two-run shot over the right fielder’s head to tie the game.
NC retook the lead in the bottom of the seventh with the long ball. Leadoff man Seo Ho-chul timed reliever Kim Jin-sung’s 127km/h forkball and launched a solo homer over the left-field fence.
LG, though, finished stronger. In the top of the eighth, with two outs and a runner on first after Moon Bo-kyung’s single, Oh Ji-hwan ripped a deep drive to center off reliever Ryu Jin-wook that became a ground-rule homer and put LG ahead 4-3.
With one out and runners on first and second after Park Dong-won walked and Moon Seong-ju singled, Shin Min-jae followed with an RBI single to extend the lead to 5-3.
NC didn’t fold. In the bottom of the eighth, leadoff hitter Park Geon-woo hammered reliever Jang Hyun-sik’s second pitch, a 129km/h forkball, for a solo shot to left.
LG, however, held on. The club summoned Yoo Young-chan in the ninth, and he retired the side in order to seal the victory.
