[Sports Seoul | Goyang = Kang Yoon-sik] I felt our movement was too stiff.
Goyang Sono lost both Games 1 and 2 of the finals at home and now heads to Busan in a difficult hole. Coach Son said he was disappointed the planned sets and movements never materialized on the floor.
Sono fell 78-96 to Busan KCC in Game 2 of the 2025–2026 LG Electronics Pro Basketball Finals at Goyang Sono Arena on the 7th. After dropping Game 1, Sono now travels on the road down 0-2.
Coach Son appeared somber in his postgame interview. \"Maybe because it was a big game, I felt their movements were stiff,\" he said. \"We'll prepare properly for the next game and do our best to put on an entertaining contest.\"
The biggest issue was the number of open 3s Sono allowed. Offensively, Sono created plenty of looks but failed to convert them, and Son zeroed in on that shortcoming.
\"You can't win when you give up 56% from three,\" Son said. \"We couldn't even break 40% ourselves. Our focus was weaker. When threes fall like that, it's impossible to contain a team. We have to rethink our approach — either change our tactics or find a way to interrupt their rhythm.\"
It wasn't one player who did the damage. Sono had trouble containing KCC’s domestic core — Choi Jun-yong, Heo Ung, Heo Hoon and Song Kyo-chang — and that compounded Son’s concerns.
\"There isn't a single one of those guys who doesn't give you a headache,\" Son said. \"Even if some shots fall, we planned to control Shawn Long. We managed Long, but the other side got hot. Choi Jun-yong’s threes were especially damaging. Even considering Heo Ung, Choi’s shooting took a big toll.\"
He added, \"We had a play we intended to use late in the game, but we ended up using it too early. That hurt us. A set we saved for the finish came out in the opening minutes, got read, and the gap widened. We need to find ways to shore that up.\" skywalker@sportsseoul.com
