Gen.G head coach Yoo Sang-wook reflected on the team's win in front of a packed Vietnamese crowd.

Gen.G beat Kiwoom DRX 2-0 in the second-round away match of the 2026 LCK regular season at the Vietnam Exhibition Center (VEC) in Hanoi on May 8 at 7 p.m. KST.

The match counted as Kiwoom DRX’s home game, and it was the first time an LCK regular-season match was held overseas. Gen.G extended its winning streak in Kiwoom DRX’s home series to five and improved to 9–3 overall.

After the match, Yoo told reporters, “I’m really happy to secure a 2-0 win in front of the Vietnamese fans with a strong performance today.” He added, “The travel schedule was tough and we didn’t have much time to prepare. We tried to rely on our usual compositions and existing data as much as possible. The players executed well.”

In Game 2, Gen.G picked Shen top — the second time they’ve used the champion this season. Yoo explained, “We’d lost to a similar composition at The First Stand, but I felt the angles were right today, so I chose Shen. Kim Gi-in played extremely well.” Gen.G had previously fallen to a top Shen and a bottom Kog’Maw–Lulu in Game 3 of The First Stand semifinals against G2.

Kiin (Kim Gi-in) turned in a strong lane against Renekton and used Shen’s ultimate at key moments. “My W worked better in lane than I expected,” he said. “The lane phase went smoothly, and I’m personally satisfied with my play.”

On the decision to run Kog’Maw–Lulu into Lucian–Milio in Game 2, Yoo said, “Lucian–Milio has been showing up a lot lately. There are several bottom compositions to counter it, and when we put the draft together, Kog’Maw–Lulu looked like a good fit.” Ruler (Park Jae-hyuk) added, “Against Lucian–Milio you can use marksmen like Ashe–Seraphine or AD carries paired with Lulu. Among those, Kog’Maw can trap opponents from the lane phase.”

Gen.G’s players also praised the Vietnam trip. Kiin said, “I was surprised by how many fans came out. Opportunities like this don’t come often — it was really fun and a great experience. I’d love more chances like this.”

Canyon (Kim Geon-bu) said, “The fans cheered so loudly it boosted our focus. We really appreciate their support.” Chovy (Jeong Ji-hoon) called it “a special day for both fans and players.” Ruler smiled, “The schedule was tight and I wasn’t feeling great, but coming to the arena and hearing the fans’ cheers made me feel better like magic. I’m very thankful.” Duro (Joo Min-gyu) added, “I was surprised by how loud the Vietnamese fans were. Playing amid that roar made the match feel more meaningful.”
