Gunwi has opened the Gunwi Local Food Direct Store at Daegu Station, linking locally grown farm goods directly with city shoppers. The store is now fully operational.

On the 3rd, Gunwi County held an opening ceremony at Daegu Station on Metro Line 1 to mark the launch of its 10th local food direct store, the Daegu Station branch, and kicked off efforts to expand a local-food distribution network for urban consumers.

Those attending the ceremony included Gunwi County Governor Kim Jin-yeol, members of the Gunwi County Council, officials from Daegu Transportation Corporation, and local residents.

Sitting at a central hub where the metro meets regional rail, the Daegu Station branch puts local farm products front and center for commuters and shoppers so people can discover them in their everyday routines.

Gunwi County expects the busy station location will secure steady sales channels for local farmers and boost consumption of regional produce.

Inside, the store offers seasonal produce, fresh vegetables, processed foods, and other items produced by nearby farms. Officials say they plan to add livestock products and operate the site as a comprehensive local-food market.

One visitor who stopped by said, "I dropped in while passing through. The farm products were affordable, and the producers' names were listed, so I feel I can trust them."

Gunwi County plans to expand its local-food distribution network around urban hubs and strengthen the local food ecosystem by expanding public meal programs and building an integrated food-support system.

A Gunwi County official said, "Daegu Station is the gateway to downtown Daegu and a daily crossroads for residents. We'll build a distribution network that brings Gunwi's farm products closer to people and creates a food system where producers and consumers thrive together."
