[EPN Enpinow reporter Go Nari] Television personality Seo Dong-ju revealed that she experienced a missed miscarriage after becoming pregnant and spoke candidly about her feelings.
On the 2nd, Seo uploaded a video to her YouTube channel titled "Maybe it’s not my time to be a mother yet. Chilbok, let’s meet again next season!" In the clip, she said she underwent a dilation and curettage (D&C) following the missed miscarriage.
At the start of the video, Seo, her voice weary, gave an update on her condition. She opened by saying, "I had to let Chilbok go."
She explained that she had taken daily medications and received injections to try to sustain the pregnancy. She also tried to support it with walks, dietary adjustments and supplements, but in the end she could not keep the baby. She waited a long time to confirm the yolk sac, only to learn in a recent hospital visit that the gestational sac had stopped developing.
After a long period of longing, Seo did not hide the complexity of her emotions. "Even amid an unfathomable sadness, there was a fleeting relief that the waiting was over," she said, adding that that brief relief made her feel selfish and caused her inner pain.
"I know it’s not always possible to have what you want when you want it, but the hurt doesn’t fade easily," she said. Still, she said the experience has renewed her desire to try again, and she plans to find the courage to do so.
Despite her anxiety, Seo admitted she is afraid of repeating the same process. But the urge to try again is stronger. "When my body is ready, I’ll move forward cautiously," she said, speaking about her plans for the future.
After the video was posted, viewers offered warm messages of support. Online comments have expressed sympathy for her loss and wished her health and happiness.
