Recently, Jeong-sook, a Season 29 contestant from the “I’m Solo” older-woman/younger-man special, drew attention after posting a video on her social media showing a lighthearted exchange between her father and fellow contestant Sang-cheol.
At the lively reception for Young-chul and Jeong-sook on the 4th, Jeong-sook’s father immediately took command of the atmosphere with his frank, quick-witted remarks when he spotted Sang-cheol among the guests.
He turned to Sang-cheol and asked, “Where in the world will you find someone like Young-ja?” — praising Young-ja, who had formed a love line with Sang-cheol on the show, while also taking a pointed jab at Sang-cheol’s indecisive behavior back then.
On “I’m Solo,” Sang-cheol had seemed receptive to Young-ja’s single-minded affection but lingered over Ok-soon, which stalled their relationship.
Fully familiar with that history, Jeong-sook’s father teased Sang-cheol about getting distracted by odd things. Sang-cheol had no rebuttal; he offered a thin smile and bowed his head.
Watching nearby, Young-ja agreed with Jeong-sook’s father and piled on the joke, urging Sang-cheol — half in jest — to “stop drinking and get your act together,” which sent everyone laughing.
Jeong-sook’s father softened the moment by adding that he said it because he cared, revealing the affection behind his ribbing.
The pair’s backstory resurfaced recently when Sang-cheol, on a “Chonjang Pub” segment, admitted he’d felt an attraction to Season 13’s Ok-soon and had reached out to her privately — a revelation that put the old storyline back in the spotlight.
Although Sang-cheol and Young-ja didn’t end up as a final couple, they’ve maintained a close, sibling-like relationship.
At the reception, Jeong-sook’s father treated the fellow cast members who attended like family, showing notable warmth. Sang-cheol responded with repeated laughter and promised he’d “get his act together.”
The wedding ceremony for Young-chul and Jeong-sook was officiated by the show’s director, producer-director Nam Gyu-hong, and many Season 29 members turned out to bless the couple. Fans have flooded social channels with support for the duo, who overcame early love-line twists to tie the knot, and behind-the-scenes moments from the wedding continue to circulate on social media.
