On the afternoon of May 8, the 62nd Baeksang Arts Awards took place at COEX D Hall in Gangnam, Seoul.
Known as the "festival of stars," the Baeksang Arts Awards were established in 1965 to honor achievements in Korea's popular culture and arts. Traditionally covering television, film and theater, the ceremony added a musical category this year to mark the 60th anniversary of Korean musical theater.
Shin asked Park Ji-hoon to choose between director Jang Hang-jun and actor Yoo Hae-jin — a straight, unexpected question. Momentarily taken aback, Park compared the choice to being asked whether he preferred his mother or his father, making a wry face that sparked laughter.
After a beat, he said that if he had to pick one, it would be senior actor Yoo Hae-jin, a response that drew everyone's attention.
Park explained that while director Jang Hang-jun had trusted and cared for him deeply, the memories and energy he shared on set with senior Yoo Hae-jin were particularly meaningful. He then openly expressed his respect and affection for his senior, which added a warm moment to the evening.
Yoo Hae-jin couldn't hide his smile at the remark, while director Jang Hang-jun, sitting beside him, seemed to nod before playfully giving a thumbs-down — a reaction that set the room laughing.
When Shin teased that Park's choice might affect casting for his next project, Park laughed and appeared briefly flustered, then deftly recovered by noting that the director had always treated him well — a witty remark that kept the tone light and convivial.
