[Sports Seoul | Reporter Choi Seung-seop] Broadcaster Kim Seong-ju’s younger son, Kim Min-yul, offered fans a warm update after roughly a year with a post on his social media.
On the 10th, he shared two photos alongside a self-deprecating joke: “Who’s this? Isn’t this Kim Min-yul who went off the grid for a year and only posted one story at Christmas?”
In the pictures, Kim looks distinctly more grown up — the very definition of a handsome young man — a far cry from the child viewers remember from MBC’s Sunday Night — “Dad! Where Are We Going?”. Sitting on the floor with a playful hat, he flashes a broad grin, still radiating the bright, infectious energy that makes people smile.
An older photo included in the post shows Min-yul as a child blowing out candles on a cake, a small but poignant reminder of time passing that tugs at viewers’ nostalgia.
He explained his long absence in a characteristically witty, literary tone. “I have no excuse. To give a ridiculous one honestly: the year flew by,” he wrote, adding, “Everyone lives in the same time, so why does my timeline feel ahead? I blame unfair spacetime,” which drew laughs.
He continued, “I still get excited the day before my birthday and feel a little wistful after midnight, so I guess I’m not that age (an adult) yet,” then added, “I don’t mind spending the year looking forward to my birthday like a kid,” revealing a sincere, youthful side.
He closed the post on a warm note: “If you happen to be reading this and today is your birthday, I sincerely congratulate you.”
