Last year, Kim Junsu ventured into black comedy for the first time in his career with the musical 'Beetlejuice,' revealing a fresh side to his acting. He made the mischievous, uncanny demon 'Beetlejuice' unmistakably his own, amplifying the character's charisma. Critics praised his effortless comic timing and nuanced expressiveness for deepening the production’s impact.

After accepting the award, Kim said, “I really didn't expect to win, so I wasn't prepared at all.” He added, “I was grateful just to attend the Baeksang Arts Awards—an event I usually watch on TV—now that the musical category has been introduced this year. It’s an honor to receive such a meaningful award.”

He said he was happy simply to share the stage with the other nominees and that he felt the award’s weight. “I see this as a push to work harder,” he said, promising to repay the honor with stronger acting and singing in the future.

Known for his genre-spanning versatility and for bringing a distinct color to each production, Kim Junsu has further cemented his position as one of South Korea's leading musical actors with this win. He continues to push his limits: he is currently performing in 'Death Note' and has recently been confirmed for the cast of 'Dracula.'
