(The CEN News / Reporter Ahn Chaebin) Short-track speed skater Kim Gilli discusses the origin of her nickname "Lambor-Gilli" and shares a series of behind-the-scenes anecdotes.
On MBC's Radio Star, airing at 10:30 p.m. on March 25, Kim will reflect on winning the Crystal Globe after finishing first overall across the ISU World Tour Series' first through sixth stops in the 2023–24 season. She will also present the trophy and a gold helmet engraved with her name.
On the program, Kim says a rehabilitation trainer—impressed by her speed—coined the nickname "Lambor-Gilli" as a playful nod to a luxury car name.
The moniker quickly spread across social media, and Kim also recalled being given a supercar escort at the airport after the Olympics.
She playfully declared, "I'm the best," and had the studio laughing when she teased senior teammate Choi Min-jeong: "Aside from skating, Min-jeong can't do anything."
Recounting their gold-medal win in the women's relay at the 2026 Milan–Cortina Winter Olympics, Kim said she knew they were going to win the moment Choi touched her.
She also shared a brush with "star syndrome" after the Games. Kim said she wore a mask on the subway, only to be told by friends that no one recognized her—an abrupt reality check.
Kim's segment will air on MBC's Radio Star at 10:30 p.m. on March 25.
