When the production team observed that the pair looked like mother and daughter, the mother‑in‑law laughed and replied, “I hope so. I think of her as the eldest daughter in our family.”
The mother‑in‑law, who had prepared pajeon (Korean pancake) and makgeolli (rice wine) for Han, recalled their first meeting. “People recognized her as we left the restaurant,” she said. “My first impression was so good — she was pretty and slim. I’d never seen a waist like that,” she added, praising her warmly.
Han also shared family news: her sister‑in‑law is pregnant, and her husband reportedly had a taemong, a traditional birth‑omen dream. She smiled shyly and said she’s both excited and curious about the new family member due in August, adding that it feels like a whole new world is about to open.
As the conversation continued, Han’s eyes reddened. She eased the moment with a laugh, saying, “I’m not crying because of the money.”
The mother‑in‑law then handed Han a handwritten letter, which Han read aloud. It began, “Go‑eun, happy birthday. It’s already been 10 years since you got married. Both women were moved to tears, and Han embraced her mother‑in‑law tightly. The mood warmed further when the mother‑in‑law joked, “Go‑eun gives me more pocket money than I give her,” earning smiles all around.
