Pepper Savings Bank beat Jeonggwanjang 3-1 (25-23, 25-14, 23-25, 25-21) in the Jin Air 2025-2026 V-League women’s matchup at Gwangju Pepper Stadium on March 15.
The win left Pepper Savings Bank at 16-20 (47 points), securing sixth place. Jeonggwanjang finished last at 8-28 (26 points).
Joy led the way with 30 points for Pepper, while Park Eun-seo added 18 and Shimamura chipped in 11. Janette scored 25 for Jeonggwanjang in a losing effort.
The first set was a tight battle. Down 15-16, Shimamura tied it with a quick attack, then blocked Park Hye-min and set up Park Eun-seo’s spike serve as Pepper took the lead.
Jeonggwanjang fought back with contributions from Park Eun-jin and Lee Seon-woo, but Pepper moved to set point after Shimamura’s quick attack and a block by Park Eun-seo. Shimamura closed out the set with another block.
Pepper carried that momentum into the second set and dominated from the outset. At 4-3, an error by Janette, a block from Park Sa-rang and a back attack from Joy pushed Pepper ahead, and a four-point run at 8-5 extended the lead.
Balanced scoring from Joy, Lee Han-bi and Ha Hye-jin helped Pepper romp to a 25-14 second set.
Jeonggwanjang mounted a comeback in the third. Early on, Joy produced a back attack, an open hit and a block to flip the score, and Ko Ye-rim stopped Park Eun-jin’s movement attack.
Trailing 20-22, Jeonggwanjang evened things when Park Eun-jin scored on a movement attack and benefited from an attacking error by Joy. Park then read Joy’s quick open, blocked again and finished the set with a successful quick on set point.
Pepper wrapped up the match in the fourth. Tied 17-17, Park Eun-seo delivered three straight quick opens to break the deadlock, and Lee Seon-woo’s net touch handed Pepper a 21-17 cushion.
Jeonggwanjang tried to rally behind Janette’s streak, but Joy’s timed attack followed by Shimamura’s movement attack sealed the victory for Pepper.
