[Sports Seoul | Reporter Kim Yong-il] Sang-bin Jeong delivered a picture-perfect finish.

Sang-bin Jeong, who plays for St. Louis in Major League Soccer (MLS), returned from injury and opened his season’s scoring.

On May 10 (Korean time), Jeong started as a second striker in St. Louis’s road game against the Colorado Rapids at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, Denver. He scored the game’s opening and decisive goal in the 26th minute of the first half, securing a 1-0 victory for his team.

It was his first goal in six MLS appearances this season. Jeong had missed about a month after picking up an injury on April 19 against the Seattle Sounders.

He made an immediate impact on his return — the strike showcased his trademark pace and a compact, accurate finish.

Forward Simon Becher nodded the goalkeeper’s clearance into space behind the defense. Jeong used his speed to dart in from the right toward the center, collected the ball and drove toward goal. Denmark-born keeper Nicolas De Freitas-Hansen rushed out, but Jeong rounded him and tucked the ball home with his left foot.

Jeong roared and celebrated with his teammates.

LAFC
St. Louis returns home to host LAFC on May 14. There’s a strong chance Jeong will line up again against Son Heung-min — LAFC’s key forward and one of his senior compatriots — in what promises to be another marquee MLS matchup.
