More than a month has passed since 25 million KRW (approximately $18,750) in cash was found in a discarded trash bag in a residential neighborhood in Incheon, and no owner has come forward.

On the 14th, the Incheon Jungbu Police Station and Yonhap News reported that on the 10th of last month, 25 million KRW (approximately $18,750) was discovered inside a 20L pay-as-you-throw trash bag left beside an apartment building in Geumgok-dong, Dong-gu. That sum is roughly $18,750. A man in his 60s, identified as Mr. A, was checking the bag for old clothes when he found the bundles of cash and notified police. When recovered, the bundles were wrapped with Bank of Korea bands, each containing 100 50,000 KRW bills (approximately $37.50 each), and were covered by clothing.

Police posted notices on the national lost-and-found portal, announced the find in local newspapers, and distributed flyers around the discovery site, but no one claimed ownership.

Fingerprint analysis did not yield usable biometric information to identify an owner, and nearby CCTV footage failed to show anyone who could be identified as the owner.

Officers canvassed dozens of nearby households to ask whether anyone had lost cash, but the inquiries produced no leads.

If no owner appears after six months of public notice, Mr. A will obtain ownership of the cash bundles.

If an owner does come forward, the Lost Property Act allows the finder to receive a reward equal to 5–20% of the item's value.

A police official told Yonhap that investigators visited all nearby homes that could have discarded the trash bag and even contacted the Bank of Korea, but they have not yet identified an owner. The official said police will keep multiple lines of inquiry open as they continue the search.
