Wonkwang University held a forum to share results from its Glocal University initiative and to review strategies for interregional cooperation.
Wonkwang University announced on May 4 that it recently hosted the \"Glocal Live Results Forum\" in the WM Convention Hall on campus. About 120 people attended, including presidents of Glocal universities, officials from the National Research Foundation of Korea, representatives from North Jeolla Province and Iksan City, and students.
The forum opened with a keynote address on cooperation structures between regions and universities, followed by presentations from participating institutions outlining innovation cases and models for collaborative growth.
Presentations included Mokpo National University, Daejeon Health College, Handong Global University, and Hanseo University. Each institution shared strategies and outcomes related to decarbonization and digital transformation, health partnerships, educational innovation, and aviation convergence. Wonkwang University then presented a regionally linked model based on collaboration among local government, industry, academia, hospitals, and research institutes.
Participants focused on building a supra-regional cooperation framework beyond the Seoul metropolitan area. Discussions addressed role allocation among universities, joint projects, and directions for institutional reform.
Park Seong-tae, president of Wonkwang University and chair of the Glocal University Council, said, \"As cooperation among Glocal universities expands to the supra-regional level, it will become a new driving force for balanced national development. Through connectivity and collaboration, we will develop practical solutions for regional innovation.\"
