Deputy Mayor Eom Tae-hyun chaired the meeting. Fifteen people attended, including officials from Yeongju Police Station, Yeongju Fire Station, the Yeongju Office of Education, Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO), Korea Gas Safety Corporation, Korea Electrical Safety Corporation, and event staff.

Attendees reviewed the event’s safety-management structure, fire-prevention measures, the establishment of an emergency contact network, and plans for traffic control and public-order maintenance.

The 2026 Yeongju Korean Seonbi Culture Festival will run from May 2 through May 5 in the Sunheung-myeon area. Organizers expect many residents and tourists to attend, drawn by a variety of participatory programs and nighttime offerings.

This year’s program consolidates events that had been split between Sunheung-myeon and the Munjeong riverside into a single Sunheung-myeon venue to allow for more systematic and efficient operations.

Deputy Mayor Eom said, “The Korean Seonbi Culture Festival is our city’s flagship cultural tourism event, so safety is our top priority. From preparation through the event’s conclusion, we will maintain rigorous safety management to ensure that not a single safety incident occurs.”
