President Donald Trump has continued to issue pointed criticisms of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).

On April 9, he posted on Truth Social: "No one, including our very disappointing NATO, understands anything unless pressured."

He met privately with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte at the White House the day before; his remarks suggest he pressed NATO to take steps that would benefit the United States.

Trump has repeatedly complained that NATO did not assist the U.S. in the war against Iran.
