[iNews24 reporter Bae Jeong-hwa] In the Democratic Party primary for Jeju Provincial Council seats, candidates Kang Bong-jik, Song Chang-kwon and Jeong Min-gu (listed in Korean alphabetical order) clinched spots on the ballot for the general election.
The Democratic Party's Jeju Party Election Management Committee (Chair: Lee Sang-bong) announced the results at the party headquarters in Jeju on April 22.
Kang Bong-jik finished first in Aewol-eup (Jeju City); Song Chang-kwon topped the vote in Oedo-dong, Iho-dong and Dodu-dong (Jeju City); and Jeong Min-gu led in Samdo 1-dong and Samdo 2-dong (Jeju City).
In Jeju City's Yeondong-gap district, five candidates competed in the primary. Kang Kwon-jong and Yang Young-sik (listed in Korean alphabetical order) advanced to a final runoff scheduled for April 24 to April 26.
Earlier, the Jeju party election committee conducted primary voting across those districts over three days, from April 20 to April 22.
