Kim started at shortstop and batted ninth at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles on April 11 (Korean time). He finished 0-for-1 with one RBI and one strikeout.
In his first home game since returning to the majors, Kim didn’t get a hit but recorded his first RBI of the season.
His batting average dropped from .429 to .375.
In the bottom of the third, Kim led off the inning and, after a seven-pitch duel with starter Kumar Rocker, swung through a slider and struck out.
In the bottom of the fifth, with no outs and runners at first and third and the Dodgers trailing 3-4, Kim drove a changeup to left on a sacrifice fly that brought in a run.
That was his final plate appearance. When Texas turned to left-hander Garcia, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts removed Alex Freeland and Kim Hye-seong and sent in Miguel Rojas and Santiago Espinal.
The Dodgers rallied to beat Texas 8-7.
Starter Tyler Glasnow exited without a decision after six innings, allowing five hits (two homers), striking out seven, walking one and yielding four runs.
Offensively, Shohei Ohtani reached base multiple times, going 1-for-4 with a walk to extend his on-base streak to 44 games.
Max Muncy led the attack, going 4-for-5 with three home runs, three RBIs and five runs scored.
Texas starter Kumar Rocker worked five innings, giving up five hits (two homers), striking out five, walking two and allowing three runs before departing without a decision.
