[iNews24 reporter Kim Sang-jin] Naju City in South Jeolla Province said on April 22 that it convened the 2026 Age-Friendly City Formation Committee in Ewha Hall at City Hall on April 20.
The committee, composed of 10 members—including Deputy Mayor Kang Sang-gu, city council members, and representatives from social welfare facilities—will review and advise on age-friendly policies and programs.
At the meeting, officials shared the city's age-friendly vision and strategic direction. They also reviewed key accomplishments from 2025 and discussed priority initiatives for 2026.
This year, Naju adopted the vision "Healthy, Harmonious 100-Year City Naju." Centered on three goals—social participation and active aging; a healthy, safe urban environment; and respect and inclusion—the city plans to carry out 51 projects across eight areas.
Notably, the city will expand senior employment and social activity support to reach 4,710 participants and will add 40 smart senior centers to provide expanded leisure, educational, and health services.
The city also plans to install ground-level pedestrian signals to improve walking safety and to expand vaccination support for influenza, pneumococcal disease, and shingles to strengthen seniors' health care.
Kim Hyo-kyung, director of the Welfare and Environment Bureau, said, "We will actively incorporate the committee's diverse recommendations into policy."
