The environmental concert Good Morning, Earth, co-hosted by the Institute for Environmental Health Technology, the social cooperative Bijittam, and the Kenz Media Cooperative, attracted strong public interest and filled Deokseong Hall at the Uiwang Credit Union on the 28th.

At the event, Uiwang Mayor Kim Seong-je stressed the severity of the climate crisis in his opening remarks, warning that extreme weather — heat waves, heavy rains and wildfires — threatens human survival.

He urged nationwide action to reduce carbon emissions and underscored the necessity of achieving carbon neutrality, calling for active participation from citizens.

Organizer Chair Pyo Do-young pledged that the organizers will work with Uiwang residents to lead efforts in environmental protection and carbon neutrality.

In a pre-concert environmental talk show, city officials and subject-matter experts shared Uiwang’s policies and professional perspectives.

Uiwang’s environmental policy team described several initiatives — a citizen-led carbon-neutrality task force, installation of solar panels and energy storage systems (ESS), and expansion of electric-vehicle charging stations — saying these measures aim to reduce greenhouse-gas emissions while safeguarding residents.

Environmental health specialists warned of serious soil contamination from plastics and other waste, urging residents to curb single-use products through everyday practices.

Musicians Charlie Park, Seobin and Sammy performed at the concert, and the original song “Good Morning My Life” premiered, conveying a hopeful message about the environment and everyday life.

The event was supported by local environmental groups and eco-friendly companies, reinforcing its role as a community-based model for sustainable environmental action.
