Jeon Jin-seon, the People Power Party candidate for Yangpyeong County mayor, proposed a package of measures for older residents: a filial-piety allowance for three-generation households with members aged 80 and older; expanded longevity payments for those 85 and older; and enhanced centenarian celebration payments.
On Parents' Day, May 8, Jeon announced the senior-welfare pledges on his social media account, saying, “I will make sure seniors feel financially secure so they can live comfortably and healthily.”
He also pledged to create 2,000 senior-tailored jobs by matching older adults with private-sector and corporate employers through a "silver bank" program.
The plan would expand public-sector positions — such as staffing senior centers, maintaining public facilities, and park management — while also growing community-based roles in caregiving, safety services, and tourism guidance.
To reduce medical costs, Jeon promised to eliminate out-of-pocket fees for health screenings and sharply lower dental expenses for procedures such as implants and dentures.
For residents aged 85 and older, he proposed linking public emergency alert buttons to a 24-hour call center and supplying 100 units of senior welfare housing to ensure safe places to live and rest.
Jeon emphasized administrative continuity, saying, “This is not emotional sloganeering; we have systematically reviewed and strengthened the programs and facilities that protect people’s lives.”
He pointed to key senior-focused achievements during his current term as county mayor: expanded outreach health and welfare services; deployment of smart care and safety systems for isolated and vulnerable seniors; improvements to senior centers and rest areas; expanded senior employment and stronger support for social participation; and broader transportation assistance for people with disabilities and those with limited mobility.
